The Internet of Things Class

Basic internet of things class will be a hands on experience. Students will construct 4 projects and make use of the ESP8266 microcontroller and the basic programming language to create there own internet of things gadgets.

The internet of things is a term used for household devices, sensors and other regular every day objects that can connect to the internet. Want your toaster to tell your smartphone when it has popped. This is the class for you.

This is a series of 4 classes on Sunday at 2pm where we will build a different project. 

Session 1 - WIFI LED fun. We will build a wifi controlled light that you can control via your web browser and set the color of.

Session 2 - WIFI extension cord. We will build a wifi extension cord that will allow you to turn almost any home appliance in to a wifi controlled one. Students will be able to control there desk lamp, Christmas lights and many other devices from this project.

Session 3 - WIFI thermostat. Build your own wifi thermostat. Make an led change in color to show the temperature and check the current temp from your browser.

Session 4 - WIFI thermostat. Make a wifi light sensor. Did you for get to turn out the lights. Want the lights to come on when it gets dark. This project will show you how to make it happen.
